Exciting times

What an exciting time it has been. I've loved my time as Artist in Residence @ Wesley College with the Year 7 boys - boys and sharp knives - they loved it!! I also spent some time mentoring one Yr 12 boy Nicholas Gumulya who included a detailed paper cut in his final WACE examination piece.

They produced some fabulous work which is on display with some of my pieces this weekend at Wesley College's Masters and Apprentices Exhibition in South Perth - come along and have a look - the quality at this exhibition, Kindergarten to Yr 12, is outstanding. Andy Quilty was the Artist in Residence with the Senior Boys and his work is also on display along-side some of the Yr 11 and 12 work which is breath-taking.

This week I also have a piece of work at the City of South Perth's Emerging Artist Awards. I was delighted to receive the Best Work on a Local theme - 'Heart of South Perth' which is on display at the exhibition at the South Perth Civic Centre for the next week. Nicholas Gumulya's work was also entered and won the Secondary Student Award - well done Nic!

family history series

I've had so much fun putting this series together. These are gorgeous pics plucked from the dusty boxes of my paternal grandmother's treasure chest - I love you Nanna xx

barry has a box brownie

Isn't he a treasure?  - that's my dad!

'barry has a box brownie' is the first in the family history series.

This vintage photograph, of the budding photographer, was taken in 1946 on iconic Cottesloe Beach in Western Australia.

I have a vintage camera exactly like this in my house, scavenged from an estate clean-out. And yes, yes it's actually not a box brownie at all but a Kodak Junior
- but 'barry has a box brownie' just rolls off the tongue, so there you go!
This vintage photograph has been printed onto 50 year old paper and is encapsulated in a hinged, brass frame. This delightful piece is hung on a beautiful red thread - other raw glass bead necklace options are also available.
For more bespoke arrangements- go to shop

show me the glass beads - take me to etsy!

The back of this piece notes the historic location and date - a true collector's piece.

I can also create a similar piece with your own family photographs from a bygone era. Contact me for details

bella, fresh from the sea

Bella, fresh from the sea - ink drawing on vintage paper

Her skin is still sparkling from her early morning dip. You can almost taste the sea salt on your lips. Bella is one of my hand drawn original ink pieces drawn directly on to a page of vintage story book paper (from the book - what katie did next). The original drawing and storybook page has been reproduced by printing the original onto blank vintage paper salvaged from my enormous 80 year old paper collection. 'Bella' can be renamed in the title on the print to customise your art piece.

The print can be purchased as a print only $40 - 20cm x 14cm or 8 x 4.5 inches or can be purchased framed as pictured - you will note that the printed is signed and titled and a delightful 3D paper boat, also created from vintage paper sits within the edge of the frame - see detailed image.

Framed with paper boat - $120 21 x 26.5 cm or 10.5 x 8.5 inches contact annabella for shipping costs for framed pieces - will depend on location The original drawing is available for sale - framed $250, unframed $200 If you love this image it's even better in the flesh : )
